My wife Shukran and I have been married for 27 years. We chose Livonia to live as we found it to be a welcoming community, in which to raise our children and work. I graduated from Schoolcraft College and Madonna University, and our two daughters, Kayla and Samantha, also attended schools in Livonia and currently attend Madonna University.
Public safety is the #1 priority of local government. I will continue my long track record of ensuring that Livonia hires, retains, and continuously trains the best police officers, firefighters, and paramedics and equips them with the best tools to serve our citizens well.
Since its founding, Livonia’s leaders have shown tremendous foresight in building what is now the state’s second-largest city park system. I see value in continuing to leverage and enhance Livonia’s recreational spaces to be enjoyed for generations to come.
Livonia’s local roads program is a model for the state, and I will support its renewal when it expires. Meanwhile, I intend to hold the County accountable for keeping our major roads up to our taxpayer’s expectations.
A changing economy has led to large some retail vacancies that present exciting redevelopment opportunities. I will work with business owners and investors to ensure that new projects benefit our community and help drive forward the Vision21 master plan.
Efficient local government is a huge enabler of Livonia’s quality of life. I will closely watch how our tax dollars are spent to help keep Livonia at the lower end, if not the lowest city tax rate in Wayne County.
